ELNET (European Leadership Network)

From the EU perspective, Iran’s regime is supporting terror groups throughout the region, plays a destructive role in Syria in support of the Assad regime, and commits gross violations of human rights against its own citizens. From Israel’s perspective, nothing poses a greater, comprehensive threat to its security than Iran. Iran also poses a grave threat to Sunni Arab states, particularly Saudi Arabia.

One year after signing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the Iranian nuclear program is subject to the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The EU attributes paramount importance to the uninterrupted implementation of the agreement. Israel’s criticism of the JCPOA was clearly stated in advance. Now, Israel is a leading proponent for assuring every measure be taken to verify Iran’s strict adherence to the agreement. In addition, Israel adamantly supports pressure on Iran to cease its support of Hezbollah, Hamas, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and its accelerated development of ballistic missile capabilities in violation of the spirit of UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

ELNET fulfils its mission by engaging the European political elite and directing their attention to the implications for Europe of Iran’s regional hegemony strategy, including its sponsoring of terrorist entities, undermining Arab regimes, threatening and delegitimizing Israel, and developing ballistic missile capabilities capable of targeting Israel and Europe.  ELNET expedites and promotes ongoing strategic exchanges, briefings, and joint policy deliberations between senior European and Israeli officials on these issues.

There cannot be normalized, complete relations with Iran so long as Iran does not recognize Israel’s right to exist.
